Buysellfunnymoney

Hey folks! So I re-worked and posted the “God and The Machine” Alt. Color print to my Etsy page. It needed some TLC after I put it up last time and is now ready for purchase! The link to my shop is here:DARartshop

Also! If you’re just in an “I want to purchase cool art stuff” mood, then check out some of my girlfriend’s sweet shirts and prints here!
https://arissweetcreatures.wordpress.com/

Aside from the dope designs she has on the website, she also takes suggestions/inspiration for CUSTOM shirt orders. A perfect handmade gift for that special someone. :)

Anyways, I’ve got some really neat stuff in the works and some BIG experimental paintings on the way. So look out for that coming at you SOON!

Ets happening

Just started a shop on Etsy (its hard to say ‘Etsy' without sounding like a disgusted valley-girl, huh?).

Check it out and keep your eyes peeled for new prints coming up and some originals!

SAS Wrap up

BIG shout out to all of the beautiful people who came out for our first Summer Art Salon this past Saturday. The comedians (Jane Harrison, Walker Glenn, Aviva Siegel) were awesome and did a great job working the room. It was difficult setting everything up and there were definitely some setbacks, but we’re (Ari, Dinah, and myself) super excited to put together another show for Winter.

Also, if you missed out on the show or forgot your cash, don’t fret.
I’m going to be uploading some photos of the items I had on sale in case anyone wants to snag some prints, or paintings, or somethin’ somethin’.

One last thing, Ari is going to be setting up a Facebook for selling her shirts that were one sale at the show, so be on the look out for that!

Working on some new paintings for the upcoming group show to be hosted at my house.

Preliminary sketch for a self-portrait

A preliminary sketch for a portrait I'm thinking of working on (the final would be in acrylic). I'm getting back to playing with portraits again though the style will likely differ a bit from this sketch.

Savvy Rest June 2014 Reception

Very thankful to Savvy Rest for the opportunity to share my art with everyone! It was a wonderful experience and I'd love to work with them again in the future. Shout out to my lady Ari for pulling the whole food thing together and to Maria Caycedo for putting on an awesome performance. I can't wait to get some of these paintings back so I can take some more proper pictures of the new paintings.

Old things in new places

Here's a few shots from the Dreams and Nightmares show currently up at Laney College's June Steingart Gallery.
These are pictures from when we were in the process of setting up the show, so expect some more pics once we have the reception in the Fall.

I'll have the photos from the Savvy Rest show up sometime this week!

Coming soon to June Steingart

This coming Monday, I will not only be helping set up Laney College's Student Art Show, but also participating in it!
I will only have two pieces in the show, one painting and one print from an older self-portrait.

Showtime

Hello!

Long time no update,

So I've been very busy with work and school (currently wrapping up my semester helping out at the June Steingart gallery at Laney). But what's keeping me busy lately is preparing for 3 shows this summer.
The first is the Student Show (themed "Dreams and Nightmares") at Laney College in late May.
The second will be at Savvy Rest Natural Bedroom in Berkeley, it should be a super fun show with free food, wine, live music, and some of my paintings.
The third will be at my house in early July and will just be me, my girlfriend, and my friends. With any luck that house show will also feature live music and maybe some comedy sets from local comedians.

So this is one of those updates that kind of like a "Hi" and a "Bye", cause I will likely be very, very, busy this summer. But I will try to post some pics from the shows and update this with some recent drawings and paintings.

Everything gets inverted eventually

New painting (in progress), from a new series I'm starting.
The process involves painting two separate images on two canvases (the canvases have to be the same size), then they will eventually be glued together at the back to make it one solid piece.
The narrative of the series involves the outer-self and the inner-self, duality, unseen cohesion, and unseen disparity.
Look for more of this in the coming months.

Venus

This is a short song I created under the name Blonde Raccoon (an experimental music project I'm working on).
It's a small song designed to introduce the album and set the tone for the project.
Enjoy!

Lost in time

Hello internet!

I've been away for awhile working on projects big and small, amazing and disappointing, etc, etc.
I'm going to try and get into the habit of updating this blog semi-regularly and hopefully enriching both of our lives with more art, paintings, stories, sketches, music, and all of that other stuff people blog about... except cute animals or food. I don't think there will be much of that.
Here's a few things I've worked on that you may or may not have seen.

This was a poster I made for the bay area band Buzzmutt

An acrylic painting titled "Waves". Since I've left school my painting style has become much looser and I've taken much greater inspiration from classical impressionist and contemporary favorites of mine such as Ashley Wood  and Yoji Shinkawa.

Another untitled acrylic painting from the same series as Waves.

This an acrylic painting titled "Rough Patch". It's a more abstract style than I usually work with but it felt appropriate at the time. The painting itself deals with themes of corruption and purity colliding.
Or something.

That's all for now,
I'm currently working on two new paintings and will be updating this again (hopefully) soon with music and other nonsense.
